1. Global Village Christmas Market

The city’s Christmas Market is back for 2021, with a host of festive treats in store.

The market will run:

Thursday 2 and Friday 3 December (10 am-5 pm) – Indoor

Saturday 4 December (10 am-5 pm) – Indoor and outdoor market (with hot food, mulled wine, and festive music!).

It will be located right next to the Forum. The lineup of shops promises to be bigger and better than ever this year, with more Christmas craft stalls, a traditional German Christmas market, pop-up bars, and food stalls.

We also suggest getting into the festive spirit by joining one of the many events being held across the city centre.

3. Ride on a Norfolk Broads boat

Taking your children out to the beautiful Norfolk Broads is a great way to see the sights, not only of Norwich but also of Norfolk.

Traveling by boat offers a different perspective on the Norfolk landscape, as well as allowing you to visit parts of the Broads that would be inaccessible otherwise.

A trip on a working narrowboat will provide a brief insight into life on the waterways and give you an opportunity to try your hand at steering the boat and getting it under the bridges, which can be a surprisingly tricky feat with a narrowboat!

Truly a great memory for a whole family!

4. Watch a puppet show

The Puppet Theatre is putting on a series of shows to keep you and the family entertained over the festive season.

There’s plenty of variety on offer with ‘Oldilocks and the Three Bears’ – A wonderfully funny and warmhearted celebration of the classic story starring a naughty old lady who looks very familiar… and 3 funny bears who love their breakfast.

Told through puppets, songs, poems, and live music, this is an unusual blend of storytelling that you don’t want to miss.

Another show not to be missed is ‘Under the Frozen Moon’, a short story about a young girl who sets out on a quest to confront the dragon under the ice who has hoarded all of the fires and lights for himself.

There are also a lot more shows which you can find here.

Tickets cost £9

So, there we have it. That’s our list of ten fun things to do with kids in Norwich over the Christmas holidays.

If you’re looking for something more relaxing, then you could also head down to Catton Park in Old Catton, just north of the city, from Friday, December 10 until Friday, December 31 from 12 pm until 8 pm (excluding Christmas Day).

But otherwise, regardless of what sort of activities you choose to partake in, we hope that you enjoy a wonderful Christmas break with family and friends!
